Savour the Experience
This 19 year old single cask whiskey was initially matured in Bourbon & Oloroso Sherry casks for 4 years before being recasked into a 500 litre Marsala butt on December 10th, 2008. The cask, numbered 217213, is a single Marsala butt made from American white oak and seasoned with Marsala Superiore made from Grillo and Catarratto grapes. This imparts luscious aromas of honey, figs, and dates. The cask was emptied on March 7th, 2024 and prepared for bottling. This new edition is bottled at cask strength, 58.5% ABV, for a bold and unadulterated taste.
Nose
The nose opens with rich and warming notes of freshly stewed fruits, accompanied by cinnamon and light dustings of nutmeg. Earthy and herbal aromas, along with tobacco leaf, add further depth and complexity. The pot still spices are complemented by the Marsala wine seasoned oak, creating vibrant notes of liquorice and cracked walnut.
Taste
Fruits take center stage on the palate, with fresh apricot and cooked apple leading the way. Delicate herbal undertones of freshly picked garden mint add a refreshing touch. Sweet notes of crème brûlée and honeycomb provide balance to the delicate oak tannins and robust pot still spices.
