Marc Morey, Bourgogne Blanc 2017

Regular price €37.50/
The Moreys are one of the major winemaking families in Chassagne-Montrachet, and French inheritance laws have led to a proliferation of different Morey domaines in the village. Domaine Marc Morey is now run by Bernard Mollard and his wife Marie-Jo, daughter of the eponymous Marc. This estate is perhaps less well-known than those of cousins Jean-Marc and Bernard, but it is quietly establishing a reputation as a fine source of elegant, expertly-made Chassagne. Vineyard holdings are impressively located in top 1er Cru vineyards, and the Marc Morey portfolio includes a racy, Puligny-styled 'En Virondot' (this is very nearly a monopole for Domaine Marc Morey) as well as a richer, fatter 'Chenevottes'. Some new oak is used for ageing, adding to the complexity. While maintaining the true characteristics of Chassagne Montrachet, these wines, with their fat silky texture, show spicy rich flavours and great length.
