Join The Selskar String Quartet and soprano Hannah Devereux for a warming concert of seasonal Celtic airs, opera arias and classical favourites.
Come along for a relaxing afternoon of seasonal Celtic airs, opera arias and Christmas favourites performed by the Selskar String Quartet with special guest soprano Hannah Devereux. You will hear some familiar opera arias alongside traditional carols such as The Enniscorthy Carol, Don Oíche Úd i mBeithil, In the Bleak Midwinter as well as folk music from Denmark, Shetland and Ireland.Hannah Devereux is a 20 year old soprano from Wexford, currently studying at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in the UK. Hannah engaged in all things music whilst growing up in Wexford, including orchestras, choirs, musical societies, drama classes at Corish Wallace Performing Arts and singing lessons with Aileen Donohoe. Before attending Conservatoire, Hannah found success at Feisceoil where she won several classes and was awarded the Vocal Rosebowl at the National Concert Hall. She is currently in her 3rd year of her Bachelors of Music, under the tutelage of Jonathon Gunthorpe. Since starting at Conservatoire, she has enjoyed performing a variety of roles, both opera and musical theatre. This summer, Hannah performed her first public solo recital with Rebecca Warren in St. Iberius Church where she received the Young Musician of the Year bursary from Music for Wexford. She has also recently been selected as a Stephen Dodgson ambassador, a Joesphine Baker Trust artist and a member of Sestina Music’s new mentoring program.
The Selskar String Quartet are a relatively new ensemble formed by James and Rebecca Warren. For this concert they will be joined by violinist Sinéad Hayes and cellist Norah O’Leary.
