Lignier's Passetoutgrain has long been a benchmark of its category, offering the balance and grace of far loftier appellations and capturing all the elegance and nuance of the house style. The wine comprises a mere 0.4 hectares worth of vines: roughly two-thirds Gamay (from 1960) and one-third Pinot Noir (from 1998), both planted within the confines of Morey-Saint-Denis proper. It presents with snap and verve but ripe and concentrated, with attractive notes of freshly turned earth and small berries.
